Rezumat
Rezistența antimicrobiană reprezintă o problemă cu impact major atât asupra populației cât și asupra sistemelor de sănătate. Consumul nejustificat de antibiotice exercită presiune de selecție asupra bacteriilor, fapt ce duce la amplificarea fenomenului mai sus menționat.
Nerespectarea igienei spitalicești și a normelor generale de igienă determină răspândirea microbilor rezistenți. România gestionează defectuos aceste aspecte, lipsesc date precise de consum al antibioticelor. Consumul nu este diferențiat în funcție de proveniența: spital sau comunitate. Infecțiile asociate asistenței medicale sunt sub raportate.

Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance is a problem with a major impact on both population and health care systems. Unwarranted consumption of antibiotics exerts selection pressure on the bacteria, which leads to amplification of the above phenomenon.
Non-compliance with hospital hygiene and general hygiene rules determine the spread of resistant microbes. Romania is defectively managing these aspects, lacking precise data for antibiotic consumption. The consumption is not differentiated according to the origin: hospital or community. Infections associated with the health care system are underreported.
