Rezumat
Antoine Portal a fost un foarte respectat medic, anatomist și specialist în istoriografia medicală francez, care a devenit în anul 1818 medicul personal al Regelui Ludovic XVIII și ulterior și al fratelui acestuia, Regele Carol X. Dar, cea mai importantă realizare a Doctorului Antoine Portal a fost înființarea în anul 1820 a Academiei Regale de Medicină (l’Académie Royale de Médecine) din Franța, al cărei președinte a și fost până la moartea sa, pe data de 23 iulie 1832.

Abstract
Antoine Portal was a highly respected French physician, anatomist, and specialist in medical historiography, who in 1818 became the personal physician of King Louis XVIII and later of his brother, King Charles X. However, the most significant achievement of Dr. Antoine Portal was the founding of the Royal Academy of Medicine (l’Académie Royale de Médecine) in France in 1820, of which he remained president until his death on July 23, 1832.
